Matthias Corvinus (1443-1490) was the son of Janko Sibinjanin who successfully fought against the Turks and the Habsburgs and was known as a rightful king to his citizens. The monument was raised by a private investor for the occasion of the 560th anniversary of the coronation of ruler of Hungary.

This is the Matthias Corvinus House, also known at the Matei Corvin House. That day, the Museum's Square in Cluj-Napoca, in north-western Transylvania, and its surrounding buildings became one of my favorite places.
